As of August 8, 2016, NCCU Chancellor Deborah Saunders-White, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year, has taken a medical leave of absence to focus on healing and recovery. In her absence, Saunders-White appointed Johnson O. Akinleye, the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, to serve as Acting Chancellor. We sat down with him to discuss what this means for the institution.
